RE STANDARD CHASSIS - PISTON
SEC 3040. X,3400.A

Please receive herewith :-

E.17379 - Piston.
E.17580 - Gudgeon Pin Locking Ring.
E.17381.- Gudgeon Pin Cap.
E.17382.- Gudgeon Pin.

Will you please instruct up three sets of these parts for test under the above X number, and return drawings to "E" Dept: D.O. for checking as soon as prints have been issued.

The following parts are also required per set :- Stud E.6687 (6 off) Nut - E.5969 (6 off) Split Pin - K.4602 (6 off) and Piston Ring Stop - E.17028 (24 off).

Will you please instruct that the fit of the Gudgeon Pin in the Piston should be similar to what we used on the aero engine previous to broaching.

Also instruct the Experimental Dept: that two Pistons should be fitted as above, two pistons .0002 tighter, and two pistons .0003 tighter.

It will be noticed that no form of locking is shown, so that it is necessary to have the Gudgeon Pin a tight fit.

Further to the above will you also try a piston with Gudgeon Pin .0005 slack in bosses.
