Design modifications for pistons, specifically concerning internal webs and piston ring pin spacing.

(6) No webs are shewn in the interior of the pistons on the sections, and the outside elevation shews them dotted. These webs should be used in all pistons of this type, and it is thought that they should be made to look towards the centre of the piston pin in the side elevation, so as to be more directly over the high pressure in the piston pin boss.

(7) The piston ring pins are shewn somewhat widely spaced in the two sectional views. Mr. Royce considers this spacing should be reduced to half.

Would you please incorporate all the above points in your scheme, and send a fresh blue print to Mr. Royce.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

This memo is 'To BY' from R - but undoubtedly comes from E (as signed)
The final sentence "- and send a fresh print to Mr Royce" is significant. E would seem to be organising himself into a 'shield' or 'filter' to R so that direct access to R shall be reduced & more channelled through himself.
