With reference to complaints contained in Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}9/LR{Mr Ellor}17.3.26. (1) Although we are sure that the float chamber cover will not work loose if it is properly tightened up, WW. are considering a lock for this cover. With existing cars however there should be no trouble if precautions are taken to tighten this cap. We think, what must happen is that the float chamber cover is taken off for cleaning purposes and never tightened again properly. (2) This complaint is not very clear to us. We assume that the engine stopped when the clutch was taken out, unless the governor lever was put into such a position so that the car was travelling at 20 m.p.h. If this is the complaint then we say there was something obviously wrong with that car. It means that the engine would not run below 700 r.p.m. We have had sufficient experience with the Phantom to know that this is not normal. (3) As regards the instance where all the lights failed and the inspection lamp could not be used. A tremendous amount of thought has been given to the arrangement of the fuses on our cars. We do not see why we should be asked to alter our arrangement because of the failure of accessories supplied by outside firms, and very bad workmanship in wiring up.
