Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/VH2/LG24.1.29. STIFFER BIG END BEARINGS TO DES.927 / 3859 Engine F.XLV.MS.27. Pistons 5.3/1 comp: ratio. We have completed seven hours running on this engine with DES.927 incorporated. These 7 hrs. include 2 hrs. endurance at 472 B.HP. and about 10 mins. at 2750 r.p.m. - the max. permissible speed for 600 B.HP. engine. On dismantling, these bearings were found to be in excellent condition. The engine is being re-built for further development work and we will report on the condition of them in due course.
