(12) SEATING POSITIONS.

Regarding the seating positions and steering wheel, it is thought that it is only necessary to lengthen the steering column 1¾" and make it our usual standard height of 9" above the seat surface measured with a compressed cushion opposite the steering wheel. Regarding the [struck]dashboard[/struck] support of the steering column it is thought that the dashboard can be reinforced or stayed in such a way as to make this satisfactory. Instructions will be sent by DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/HDY.{William Hardy} It is understood that as the reinforcement of the bonnet and dash is so much more effective, the materials can be made 25% thinner, with the object of reducing the weight and the cost.

CRANKCASE.

Since writing the above we find there is considerable alteration to be made to the crankchamber to avoid the weakness that has developed in running at these high speeds, resulting in a complete new crankcase pattern for the upper half. This we are working on at the moment of sending this memo.
