Re R3/M7.1.27. It would be possible to try the effect of slow make and quick break with an experimental cam and we think this would be an improvement from the point of view of noise as well as the reduction of sparking.

As regards rigidity, we cannot see from observation that there is much difference between R.R. and Delco-Remy levers. We are of the opinion that an increased spring pressure will improve the performance of the tungsten points.

With regard to limiting the lift of the lever, we would point out that this is done on most magnetos. One point of difference between the R.R. and Delco-Remy contact breaker is that the latter has the screw point earthed and the lever insulated. At the moment we cannot conceive that this would make any difference, except from the point of view of better condenser connections, but we consider that we ought to try this combination to confirm this.
