Recommendation for the setting of the Goshawk II slipper drive arrangement.

Re. GOSHAWK II. SLIPPER DRIVE ARRANGEMENT. X4221

With reference to the above, we recommend that the best setting for the slipper drive is for 8 springs only to be used, the same strength as now issued, special bolts to be arranged so that these springs can be tightened up choc-o-bloc and then unscrewed a quarter of a turn, at which position they should be split pinned.

With this setting we find that the friction is overcome when a load of 14 Lbs. is applied at 17¾" radius.
