stalling, and the Chrysler owner told him about my differential, and the owner of the Rolls-Royce car said he would be glad if necessary to pay a thousand dollars to get my differential into his Rolls-Royce.

In the five and a half years that I have put my differentials into 70 different cars not one of them ever stalled. They have gone through the very worst ice and snow conditions, and never stalled. Of course in the early days my problem was to eliminate the backlash, and in my 12th patent of September 1926, I have solved this final problem as stated. I enclose a memorandum fully stating the functions of it.

Two of the leading automobile companies are now trying out my differentials in their cars, and if you would care to make up one of my differentials yourself, you can send me a full set of blue prints of your present differential, master gear, axles, and housing assembly, and I will then make up a set of blue prints for my differential to fit your car, and you can then make it up yourself, exactly as shown in my blueprints to you, and I could then assemble it, and stand by while it is being installed in your car, to see that it is properly put in. It is now an absolute certainty by over a year of road use that my differential is a vast improvement over the old type of geared differentials. It would very much aid the sale of your cars, if you would use it, and I would be glad to let you use it on a very moderate royalty to me.

Very truly yours,

C. Andrade, Jr.{Mr James Royce}
