As pointed out to you this morning, we find that after running the cars, especially if under severe conditions, the leaves of the above springs on chassis on test show distinct signs of side movement.

The leaves appear to twist about the centre of the spring, and in the case on test which I am anxious to bring to your attention, the end of the leaf is out of the plane of the spring by as much as 3/16" to 1/4".

X.1353 There is a clip at each end of the spring only, and the side movement commences at the leaf which is not clipped.
