They are of opinion that leaving the cost of dies out of account, the Side Members for "Goshawk 11" frame could be produced for about £9.12.0d. per pair. Assuming that the cost of the dies be distributed over 2,000 chassis, the gross cost of the Side Members would be £10.12.0d. per pair, or say a saving of £4.8.0d. per pair as compared with the price we are now paying for hot pressed Side Members of 3% Nickel Steel. Cold pressed Side Members would have to be pressed from Mild Steel plates of the approximate analysis given above, as plates of 3% Nickel Steel would be too hard.
