those for producing Side Members for "Goshawk 11" might cost anything from £1,500 to £2,000, and this would have to be taken into consideration when comparing prices.

They are of opinion that leaving the cost of dies out of account, the Side Members for "Goshawk 11" frame could be produced for about £9.12.0d. per pair.

Assuming that the cost of the dies be distributed over 2,000 chassis, the gross cost of the Side Members would be £10.12.0d. per pair, or say a saving of £4.8.0d. per pair as compared with the price we are now paying for hot pressed Side Members of 3% Nickel Steel.

Cold pressed Side Members would have to be pressed from Mild Steel plates of the approximate analysis given above, as plates of 3% Nickel Steel would be too hard.

I understand it is your intention to submit these proposals to R.{Sir Henry Royce} for his consideration and I hope that it will be possible to obtain a prompt decision.

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}
