TUNGSTEN CONTACT POINTS. x8692

Further to our EFC1/T14.1.28, the test of tungsten points run 10,000 miles on the bench with a thinner (.050") anvil, but otherwise to LeC. 2460, has been completed. The result is not as good as the intermediate .064" anvil which has been standardised. It will be remembered that the result of the thicker anvil also was not as good. As far as the evidence goes, therefore, the degree of flexibility which we have chosen for the support of the fixed point seems to be about right.

A test was also run with the old standard (non-finer primary) coil with double ballast, but otherwise old standard conditions. This was to prove, as it has done reasonably satisfactorily, that the old coil taking the larger current is no worse on the contact points than the finer primary coil.
