Chassis B.66.EF Mr. LANG Chassis B.130.EF Mr. Joninon -------------------------- With reference to our Sr/VA7/ET.23.4.36 please find attached a sketch showing where the failure occured on the stiffened type cross member of the above two chassis. We have fitted a new member to each of the above chassis. It is rather a long job because the front wings etc., have to be dismantled. Upon examination of the fractured portion of the members, we think the cause of the trouble is due to there being insufficient metal where the FB. 1844 bracket has been bored out to take the tube marked in red in sketch, the fracture has occured in the same place on the two cars. There is not much metal where the fracture has taken place. We are going to inspect cars as they become available for failure of sign of failure of the above part. Should we come across any more, we will advise you accordingly. Sr/VA.VA | ||
