Many thanks for your note which was awaiting me at Barkers.
We took the car out on the road, making a circular tour of Guildford, Aldershot and home via the Great West Road.
The body seemed to be satisfactory in every way except for one serious defect- the scuttle "matheboxes" as badly as ever.
On many occassions we reached a speed of 80 M.P.H. and the car was lively. The springing with four up was satisfactory.
The steering was not safe much over 65 MPH. and this spoilt the car. We know you have some later improvements to add. For a sports car we would appear to need a steering that, even if i t is a little below our standard for town work, is much more stable at 70 MPH. and above.
We have instructed Barkers to make some modifications to cure the scuttle trouble, and as they will wish to try the car on the road when these are complete, we suggest that if we let you know the day, you might be agreeable to sending a driver down to them for a few days so that they car experiment with their improve-ments. Only when they are satisfied with the job do we propose paying another visit. Would you kindly let us know whether you agreeto this.
