Chassis B-121-AE, Capt. W. Barnato.

Herewith are the oil consumption figures on the above car, as handed over to the Repair Dept. to-day.

The engine was fitted with large capacity oil pump and weak relief valve spring. also special high efficiency scraper rings were fitted to pistons.

Oil pressure using Motorine 'C'
500 RPM. 6 lbs.
1,000 " 10 "
1,500 " 16.5 lbs.
2,000 " 24 lbs.
2,500 " 31 "
3,000 " 38 "
3,500 " on the stop.

The above figures were taken with oil temperature of 60°C.

Oil Consumption - using max. revs. wherever possible, with an average speed of 49 m.p.h. = 640 m.p.g.

This figure we expect to improve with the bedding in of the new scraper rings. We have also proved that the consumption is improved 100% if excessive high speed is not maintained.
