A system of post bags has been inaugurated between Derby and Crewe, and Derby and Glasgow. These bags hang in the Derby mailing office until 5.30 p.m. every evening, between Monday and Friday inclusive. Memos, therefore, written by people in Derby works to either Crewe or Glasgow, can be put into this bag up to 5.30 p.m. with the knowledge that they will reach Crewe or Glasgow first thing next morning. At Belper it will be necessary to write memos. in time to catch the first collection after lunch, to be sure that the mail van brings these to the works during the afternoon. Large parcels or registered letters should still be sent through the present channels. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
