MICRO-EXAMINATION REPORT. To-Hgs c. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X44.99 M.711 25th September, 1930. RE MODEL CRANKSHAFTS. As requested, we have made a series of hardness and other tests on the above. The details are given below, together with particulars of tests which have been made previously on Nitralloy and nickel case hardening steels. The shafts which were sent to us for test were all labelled as follows :- Des. 995. Model of Des. 989. 0.295" webs. Flywheel R.P.M. 400. Stroke 6". Flywheel inertia increased by 30%. TABLE I. Matl.
