Our Ref HA/WM 27th September, 1937 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. CHANDLER You will recollect that the Writer had told you about the difficulty in obtaining suitable steel for producing further Cushion Segments for the Phantom III Driven Plates. We have managed to find a firm who have in stock some of the Hard Rolled Steel from which the enclosed sample has been cut. We shall be pleased therefore if you will inspect this and let us know whether you approve of this Steel being used or otherwise. We may say that the Steel is in the hardened condition as it would be crimped, and so far as we can say, would be satisfactory. We would however like your confirmation that this is suitable to you, but would reiterate that it is impossible to better the promise of four months which our supplier has received from the Steel maker, for further supplies. Trusting to receive a reply by return, Yours faithfully, BORG & BECK COMPANY LTD. [Signature] Manager P.S. It may interest you to know that this particular steel was supplied in the first place by G.P.Wall.
