Referring to the steering box, we have made a design of our own to obtain the required proportions, and also because we cannot buy one in this country which has been developed on what we believe are the right lines.

The Marles Co. over here has developed in the direction of using more and more plain bearing surfaces which in our view render the box less efficient and more subject to the variations imposed by the conditions of lubrication.

The development in U.S.A. has been rather in the reverse direction and in confirmation of our view that the virtue of this box lies in the narrow range in which it maintains a high standard of efficiency enabling a choice of lead anglento be made providing instantaneous irreversibility combined with ample ability to self centre. This box is of the type we call the full Marles, and not the Marles Weller.
