c o p y. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} ) To GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} ) FROM Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} To AJL. ) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG24. 9. 28. K-S PETROL GAUGES. These gauges have been behaving unsatisfactorily. There are one or two points which should be carefully observed in fitting them up to avoid trouble. These are :- (1) The line supplied with the gauge should not be connected up until the car is ready to go on the road. (2) When it is connected up, the front or dashboard end should always be connected first. (3) If for any reason the pipe line has to be disconnected while the car is in service, the rear end should be dis-connected first. On no account should the front end be disconnected while the rear end is still attached to the tank. In the event of the latter happening the line must be dried before it will work satisfactorily. This should be done with half a dozen strokes of an ordinary tyre pump. Before the tyre pump is used, a dozen free strokes should be made to get rid of any moisture that may be in the pump. On no account should the compressed air supply be used or the line blown out with the mouth. (4) The slightest leak in the air line will spoil the gauge operation. The nipples should therefore be inspected for cleanliness and seating and tightened up very carefully. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
