X676 To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG3.10.24. RE. INSURANCE OF DRIVERS DRIVING CARS IN FRANCE. With reference to attached. We recommend that the men are insured under Benefits 'b', but that the insurance should be for £1000 maximum, instead of D's illustration for £100. The cost of this to the Company will be s50/- per man. As far as we can say at the moment, we want the insurance to cover a period of 2 months dating from Monday Oct. 6th. as we are expecting that one car will start running on that date. We have shewn these insurances to the men who are going to France, and they agree that, providing this is made out as above, they will sign the declaration not to come on the Company for benefits under the Workmens Compensation Act. These insurances will cover not only the drives, but their assistants or any other of our men who happen to be on the car as it is quite possible for a special ttest there may be two or three men on the car.
