X.4064 - AERO TYPE DYNAMO WITH VIBRATOR REGULATOR. X-1402 Further to our EFC4/T17.8.20 on the above dynamo with which curves of open circuit performances were given, we have now taken some ampere-speed curves of performance which will be found on the photostat copy attached. It will be realised that a curve of ampere-speed performance for a machine controlled in this manner is very much more indefinite than in the case of an inherently controlled machine. We have already stated in our EFC1/T22.7.20 that to make proper comparisons between one machine and another, it has been necessary to work upon a battery circuit of defined volt-ampere characteristic. This has been done in connection with our tests of inherently controlled machines, but, as pointed out in the above mentioned memo, it is even more necessary in connection with vibrator regulator control. An inherently controlled machine will, at moderate and high speeds, deliver a bigger ampere out-put under the same conditions of speed and temperature, the higher the voltage. At low speeds this feature is reversed. With vibrator regulator control, the opposite is of course the case at all speeds, but to a much greater extent. A table of standard volt-ampere Contd. | ||
