Mr Northey With reference to the attached, and particularly to the paragraph marked A, the point we wished to make clear was that we considered wire wheels to be particularly suitable for a high-speed on Brooklands track, that is to say, that they were safe for this purpose and that they were not chosen for their reliability under general conditions of road usage. We are of the opinion that a wheel might be quite reliable for general use on the road and at the same time would not be suitable or safe for high-speeds on the track.
