CLUTCH.

We have dismantled the clutch and found that the cause of the slipping is due to the automatic oiling of the clutch spigot. The oil catcher is still not right when the car is standing, it evidently does not drain away properly and escapes over and drops on to the clutch fabric. We have cut the automatic supply right off.

A feature which we have noticed and is interesting is that there are definite signs of the clutch plate bearing having chattered on the clutch shaft, also the clutch shaft has chattered in the ball race in the housing of the flywheel. I am sending you a sketch showing these two features. We should imagine that this was the cause of the clutch not stopping correctly during one day's mileage.
