CRANKCASE OIL BAFFLES.

We send you herewith LeC.2057 shewing a design which should be tested experimentally with a view to reducing the oil consumption at high speeds.

The baffle should be tested as shewn and then an investigation should be made to see how much it can be shortened on the free end without impairing its effectiveness.

It is desired if possible to shorten the baffle until the connecting rod and piston can be withdrawn without disturbing the baffle. So far as we can see all the baffles can be got in bolted as shewn.

It is necessary to drill the baffle bolt holes from the inside face of the crankcase and they have been arranged so that this can be done with a long drill.
