Please receive herewith E.CD.687 Modified position for Air Intake Pipe Clamp - Stromberg Carburetter - Wraith 111. This modification has been made in accordance with the request in Em/CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester}S/JE.14.6.38. to move the fixing clamp for the air intake bend through 90° from its present position, and to reduce the size of the hexagon head of clamp bolt, also the nut to 2.B.A. in order to avoid over-tightening of bolt and to prevent distortion of choke valve housing so as to reduce risk of the choke valve sticking. It is also suggested that the existing copper and asbestos washer for carburetter joint on inlet manifold should be replaced by a Cooper joint washer of the same thickness as the C.A. washer to reduce heat flow to carburetter. These modifications should be introduced on the Wraith 111 production carburetters, along with the relieved choke spindle bearings to E.CD.646, as soon as possible, without interference to production.
