I send you herewith copy of minute 3 of the 97th Meeting of the I.C.
Mr Barrington informed the Committee that Mr Johnson had remarked that minute 17 of the 91st Meeting did not conclude the matter as raised by Sales department. The points raised by Mr Cowen were :-
(1) Lightness of wire wheels on tyre.
(2) Comparative resistance against ride strain.
(3) Unsuitability of wooden wheels in tropical climates.
(4) Why we pinned our faith on wire wheels on the London to Edinburgh trial?
(5) If wire wheels are wrong, what substantial arguments can be given against them?
The Committee discussed this matter further. Decisions on the above are as follows :-
(1) The weight of a wire wheel with a detachable device is about the same as that of a wooden wheel.
