Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}6/R.4.10.38. STROMBERG CARBURETTER. (Type D.C.42.) We have an agreement with the Zenith Carburetter Co. who produce and supply the above carburetter. This agreement covers the question of finish and certain details of the design, as per the present production carburetter. The position is as follows:- We have about 245 carburetters to use up on Wraith before we alter the specification. This quantity completely covers 'A' series (100 chassis) and up to 145th. chassis in 'B' series (200 chassis). A balance of 55 carburetters is required therefore to complete 'B' series. That is the point where we should step in with a more economical version of the Stromberg carburetter. If the suggested production programme works to schedule these 55 carburetters will be required by November, as 'B' series is supposed to be completed by mid-December. In March of this year four sample carburetters were supplied by Zeniths, (as a result of a meeting between Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Mr. Turner) showing various types of finish and their relative prices. This showed us that the price we pay for the Stromberg carburetter could be reduced by as much as 50%, but only if we keep near enough to the production line of the manufactured article. The various prices of the samples therefore, were dependent on finish, and the degree to which we wander off their production line. A decision has to be made re the complete specification of the carburetter, and the following is required. | ||
