EFC. ) TO - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) C. to BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} XU404 ORIGINAL R3/M7.1.27. DESPATCHED FROM WW. 10.1.27. X4284 X2894 X4632 BATTERY IGNITION - RR. CONTACT MAKER - TUNGSTEN POINTS. EFC. says on our contact maker the contact points both in platinum and tungsten do not stand up as well as in Delco-Remy, all other parts being the same. I should propose speed of make, and speed of break, be examined, and think that there would be an advantage in a slow make, and a quick break. Moreover it seems that the point might be saved or spoiled by the rigidity of the contact arm, and if it bounces, i.e. makes contact twice and three times, also whether it requires a limit to the lift or some damping. There are a few points which could vary, but which EFC. has probably compared. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
