RE. LIGHTER PHANTOM ENGINE. X.8030 X.8840 X.8000

Regarding our last conversation respecting the possibility of shortening the Phantom con. rods you asked if it would be convenient to build up the experimental lighter engine with short rods and change it to long rods if desired.

It will be remembered that the original Phantom rods were lengthened from 10" to 11.5" by adding 1" on the crankcase and moving the pin .5" upwards in the piston.

The lighter Phantom has been designed with 10" rods, the original height of crankcase, and the present piston proportions with only a slight addition of surface above the pin, in which case the full amount of any length added to the con. rods will have to go on the crankcase.

We have received Mr. Royce's approval of LeC.2229.
