This is a point which we are investigating. CONSTRUCTION. We find difficulty in preventing the steering pivot pins from rotating when either tightening or slacking the nut. The pins are parallel with a short taper at the ends. There is no means of holding the pin. The square that used to be left on the end of the pivot pins has disappeared. We consider some provision must be made to hold these pins. The dust covers at present are riveted to the brake carrier which makes it impossible to see how the brakes bed. We have found it necessary in our experimental cars to split these dust covers and fix them with studs and nuts. We recommend that we adopt this on the brakes until experience proves it to be unnecessary. It is anticipated that it will be about 3 weeks before we get a car fitted with the latest front road springs and bracket - modified leverage for servo. - as soon as a car is ready it will be sent to France for a long test.
