We attach herewith copy of letter and blue print received from Messrs.Smiths as a result of our visit to them last week. We note that they have not yet removed the spring washer from the float wheel pin presumably they have forgotten this on the drawing. Will you kindly let us have your approval of these modifications to be included in your agreement on the standardisation sheet. We are satisfied ourselves that these modifications constitute a distinct improvement to the gauge and although we have not tested them out we do not consider that there is any possibility of these modifications interfering with the reliability of the gauge as demonstrated on our last 10,000 mile test.
