Hancock came to Derby for Christmas and we discussed with him the failure of the Cadillac gudgeon pins. Prior to this we cabled Olley, but have so far had no reply. Clearly the trouble must have been experienced in America and presumably a cure has been established. In the meantime we are making replacement parts here and Hancock will fit them. We think that by a modification to the big end the supply of oil to the gudgeon pin can be increased, which may prevent a recurrence of the trouble. Hancock has arranged for this modification to be carried out in Paris. We anticipate that the Cadillac will be on the road again about the 7th January.
