My Dear Lappin,

Further to our correspondence on the subject of plugs for Kestrel engines in Osprey, the Royal Aircraft Establishment have now finished their flight investigations at the new rating and find that the K.L.G. V.7/1 type of plug has insufficient heat resisting capacity at engine speeds above the old normal r.p.m. of 2,250 and are not suitable for Kestrel engine re-rated at 2,350 normal and 2,700 r.p.m. maximum. Lodge A.2/3 plugs, on the other hand, meet these conditions satisfactorily and are recommended for use in re-rated Kestrels.

In the meantime, as previously explained to you, I have asked K.L.G.'s to modify the V.7/1 plug so as to give it a heat factor equivalent to that of the A.2/2.

Yours sincerely,

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} MAYALL EMTAGE.
