July. 1941. Mr. Robotham, Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd. DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, In connection with the American Wide Base Rim Development about which we had a discussion during my last visit to you, it was agreed that I should send you full details of a Wide Base Rim which would be suitable for use on a 35 cwt. Standard Bentley Chassis. According to the published load and inflation tables the size of tyre required would be 6.50/16 and of the two Wide Base Rims namely 5.1/2.K. and 6.L. on which this tyre can be fitted, we recommend the 5.1/2.K. size. I therefore send you herewith three copies of Drawing No. TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}10-30-40-K.{Mr Kilner} this being the official T. & R.A. drawing of the 5.1/2.K. Wide Base Rim. I hope that you will be successful in obtaining these rims as we are mutually interested in the results of the test which you propose to make. Yours faithfully, THE AVON INDIA RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED.
