FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to SO. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/W24.9.32 X4027 PEREGRINE CLUTCH. We send herewith N. sch. 3546., shewing the arrangement of a rubber coupling in the above clutch. This is intended as an alternative to the solid scheme shewn on R.{Sir Henry Royce} scheme 3513., in case it is found impossible to dispense with the flexible coupling. It will be noticed that the clutches are to all intents and purposes identical in the two cases. We also send a further suggestion regarding the lubrication of the spigot bearing. We think some schemes should be tried. There is the existing scheme which, though it has been scrapped on account of excessive oil, might now be found possible, because of the improved oil guards, etc. There is the scheme shewn on LeC. 3178., and there is the scheme shewn on this drawing.
