To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.J. " " EN " " RV " " RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} * EPC. X.3494 RE 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS AIR PUMP. ORIGINAL RECEIVED Referring to drawing No. E.17167 shewing the improved form of air pump for immediate production on the 40/50 H.P. chassis, it is noted that no shoulder is provided behind the piston top pressing to prevent this pressing from falling through into the body of the piston during the expanding operation. Would you therefore kindly add such a feature as shewn in the sketch below,-in accordance with Mr. Royce's wishes. It is suggested that this cylinder should have a solid end similar to the LeC. design sent through of this air pump, for future production, or as an alternative, an aluminium cap having two internal features, instead of the shallow hexagon shewn on E.17167. A cap of this type can be screwed up by almost any spanner, and does not need a special tool adding to the kit. Mr. Royce wishes Derby to decide whether to use a c/l, as in the sketch below - | ||
