RE BATTERY BOX CARRIED IN FRAME.
40/50 H.P. CHASSIS. X.3694B
X.2778

I send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1173 giving details of the battery box suspension for the above. Would you kindly instruct this for test.

It is intended that the battery leads shall be brought out at each end of the battery and carried on to the nearest cross members, there being fixed to suitable insulated terminals. There will be two such fittings therefore, one at the front end of the box on the cross member opposite the spring pivots; the other at the rear end of the box on the cross member specially inserted for carrying the battery at that end.

The leads to the motor and main switch carried in tubes on the chassis frame will also make connection with these insulated terminals, which latter will have suitable covers for electrical protection, and for keeping off dust and mud.

In accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions, I have sent to you the design completed as far as the suspension, as this is the more important part, and the part that will take the longer time to prepare for test, as it will be necessary to obtain a suitable battery to begin with.

Mr. Royce wishes Mr. Clark to deal with this latter item at the earliest possible moment. He further wishes that you should deal with the remainder of the design outlined in this memo, namely, the provision of the connection terminals.

When it is desired to take the battery away from the
