My dear Robotham,

Thank you very much for your letter of the 2nd instant and telegram.

I propose to have the other axle fitted and will send the existing shaft along to you also when I have taken it out.

I quite agree that the car is not under the guarantee and there is no obligation to supply the job free of charge. On the other hand, I think you will agree that, with a car of this quality, the axle shafts should stand 50,000 miles with such driving as I give it, and I think, all things considered, if I were a private customer, you would probably not hesitate to supply me the shafts free of charge and I suggest you reconsider this.
