Valve timing all advanced 20°, giving exhaust closing at T.D.C. Note that the pressure in the cyln. rises to 2 lb/in² over atmospheric while the exhst pipe press. is below atmospheric. With normal timing, exhst closing 20° late the press. in the cyln. was generally approx. same as in exhst stub.
