-2- ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/HW.7/B.8.12.38. 'B' Series, while there is a corresponding shortage of 1250 lbs. springs. As we are now approaching the end of 'B' Series, it makes it extremely difficult to provide the erecting bay with the correct poundage of springs and necessitates a certain amount of wangling in order to keep the frames moving. To avoid such difficulty in future, it is asked that erection instructions be issued at least 6 weeks ahead of production requirements, or alternatively, we be allowed to keep a floating stock of each different poundage. To further complicate matters, we would mention that for 'A' Series, we have had 16 revised instructions necessitating actual changes of springs, and 42 on 'B' Series to date. It is hoped that the foregoing will explain the difficulty in keeping the Works going with springs under present production requirements, especial note being taken of the fact that the last 50 erection instructions requiring the heavier poundages were not released until the last week November. A further 4, 1200 lb. springs are expected by passenger train tonight, but regarding further supplies, we will advise you tomorrow. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
