1262 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}2/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 10th February, 1938. Messrs. Hardy Spicer & Co.,Limited, Birch Road, Witton, BIRMINGHAM. 6. (For the attention of Mr. J.A. Daniel) Dear Sirs, With regard to the propeller shafts you have been supplying to us, we notice that they are not marked at the sliding joint so as to ensure that after being taken to pieces they will be assembled the right way round. We have already come against a case in which a shaft with a certain amount of un-balance was corrected by fitting the sliding joint @ 180°. Will you please let us know whether you can mark production orders of our shafts so that this trouble cannot arise. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
