X15568 Experimental Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/KW. 20th December, 1933. Mr. Russelsharp, The Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., Caxton House, Westminster, LONDON, S.W.1. Dear Sir, With reference to your query when visiting the Works to-day, as to the compound used for impregnating the interior of the castings in which your extreme pressure lubricating oil was used, we find that in each case no paint was utilised but only boiled linseed oil. It has been our practice in the past to use Mander's sky-blue oil and petrol resisting paint, but in this particular case, nothing of the sort was used. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD., | ||
