bearing of the engine. The climb being excessively steep.

The Pass de Giovo from Vipiteno side is an easy 3rd gear climb, but the road is narrow. The surface is good (small gravel). Going down to Merano not more than 20 mph. is safe with a large car.

The second day's run from Merano to Merano is one of continual climbing and descending, with a continuous winding road between the passes, a distance only of 33 miles was covered in 1 hour.

Pass de Sella. Height (m.2218) 26.9 kms long.

There are no difficulties on this pass, chiefly 3rd gear was used with ease, speed was reduced to approx. 20 mph. on the corners.

Pass del Pordio. Height (m 2242) 12.2 km. long.

Cristallo. Up to this the roads were very good, no corners had been met that could not be taken without reversing. To Belluno the road is fast but efficient brakes are needed. From Belluno to Primiero, 70 kms. 3rd gear is needed after cornering, and to maintain average speed, increased acceleration is needed. The average speed had not been maintained when it could be definitely checked, but many stops were made for photos, and a true record could not be kept.
