CY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PHANTOM SPRINGING. 78410 75410 We wish to thank you for your reports on Springing - they are most useful to us. On the Phantom springing you appear to be repeating a series of tests which we carried out on the first front wheel brake cars. We did make tests to try and prove whether anchoring the front spring at the rear was responsible for increase in road shocks. On the same car we changed over from rear anchorage to front anchorage but we could not appreciate any difference. We get such contradictory reports on the comfort of cars from our own experts when trying the same car, that we have kept off the problem. We are, however, shortly starting a series of tests to see whether we can measure differences in springing. We should like you to send us particulars of the New-ton and Norton instruments. From the chart you have sent us of the Norton, we cannot see that it would be of much value. The chart shews the floor to be more comfortable than the seat contd :- | ||
