S E C R E T.

HISPANO.

We have removed the engine unit from the car we
have and are fixing it up on the bench test. We shall then
be able to obtain accurate power curves and full particulars
of the engine.

We have weighed the complete unit as we removed it
from the chassis - the weight includes -

Complete engine, gearbox, servo, starter, generator, clutch,
carburetter, exhaust pipes, oil in engine and gearbox, water
pipes, controls -

W EIGHT - 844 lbs.

This does not include change speed and brake levers.

In comparing this weight with EAC. engine only 940 lbs.,
we should take into account that the EAC. is 16% larger engine.

Also the Hispano has no detachable head. On the other hand,
the design of the Hispano crankcase does away with the necessity
of engine guards.

After we have completed the power curves, we propose to
weigh the units separately.

We have already had the Hispano on the road wheel
XXXX dynamometer but at the high speeds, a pistons seized. This
has since been replaced.
