LID{A. J. Lidsey} X5840. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.J.H. L.I.T. 18.G.IV. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, FRANCE. 16/11/31 We have had a failure of the bijur supply to the front axle. The failure was caused by the bijur pipe breaking at the outlet of the coil in the aluminium housing at the rear end of the front spring. The pipe had been pressing hard on the bottom of the bracket which had not allowed the free movement of the coil. We also noticed that the winding of the coil would be better if it was made in the opposite direction. It would give it a clear lead out instead of having to make a double bend to lead the tube out. We enclose a rough sketch showing the position. These lubrication schemes as old, of course, and modified on 19.G.IV for the first 10,000 miles in France. The modified scheme gave no trouble and should be standardised. O.J.H. G.J.Hancock 16/LID{A. J. Lidsey} 4464 | ||
