STARTER MOTOR TEST RIG

Our starter motor test rig is at present designed so that in order to run a 20.HP. motor we have to:-

(a) Remove the gear ring and replace with 20.HP. type.

(b) Unbolt the motor fixing plate and rebolt, and line up the cradle mounting suitable for the smaller motor.

This procedure is very inefficient and takes a whole lot of time.

The rig can easily be adapted with a 25/30. gear ring on the other side of the brake on the same spindle and a 25/30. cradle bolted down to match up with the ring. It would then be possible for us to test either P.3. or 25/30. motors as we now wish to do without dismantling either the gear ring or the motor mounting.

We are now in a position where we want to test a new Bentley starter motor and to do so involves at least a days work changing over the rig.

The alterations requested do not involve much design work as only an adaptor would be required for the gear ring and a cradle would be bolted down by the millwrights.

Will you please give this matter your early attention.
