I beg to confirm my wire of to-day's date, reading :-

REGRET TO REPORT UNAVOIDABLE ACCIDENT AT POUILLY YESTERDAY BETWEEN ORLEANS AND NEVERS STOP BOY ON BICYCLE KNOCKED DOWN CONDITION VERY SERIOUS HARVEY DRIVING PROCEEDING POUILLY TODAY SENDING FULL REPORT SOON AS POSSIBLE
LIDSEY.

I regret to report a serious accident which occured yesterday afternoon (26.6.24) between Pouilly and La{L. A. Archer} Charité, on the Orléans - Nevers road.

I enclose Harvey's report on the accident, which appears to have been unavoidable.

Unfortunately, I was on the road on 35 PK myself and did not hear anything about the matter until I returned here at midnight.

Harvey and Brazier appear to have done everything possible after the accident occured, and were extraordinarily lucky in finding a man who could speak English, to accompany them to the Police.

From Harvey's account the police seem to have acted very fairly in the matter, and commended them (Harvey & Brazier) on their action in taking the boy to a doctor and reporting the matter immediately.

The doctor could not say whether the boy would live or not, the injuries being bad head wounds, arm injured badly and several ribs broken, but said he might give an opinion to-day.

I am proceeding to Pouilly with Croydon immediately, and will let you have further details as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, there was no witness to the accident. The car is not damaged in any way, beyond slightly bent wings and a broken head lamp.

A.J.LIDSEY.
