X4008 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. BY/RD. c. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} EFCL/T29.2.28. U.S.A. AUTO SWITCH. In view of the fact that considerable reduction of variation of operating voltage due to temperature change will certainly be effected by the proposal of putting a series Eureka winding in the space at present used for packing on the other bobbin, I have asked Mr. Nadin if he will agree to the U.S.A. auto switch being delayed while we effect a similar improvement in this instrument for U.S.A. To this he has agreed. For this purpose, therefore, we require a shunt coil bobbin instructing wound with 28 SWG. D.S.C. in a similar way to those already specially wound with 34 and 32 SWG. The 32 SWG. wound bobbin which we remove from the U.S.A. switch will be available as a second bobbin for the compensating switch for our own 12-volt working. We should be pleased if you would instruct such a 28 SWG. wound bobbin at the earliest possible moment as we have told Mr. Nadin that this will not mean a further delay of much more than a fortnight.
