Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr.C.W.Nichols.

Dear Sir,

We view with considerable concern the number of failures and complaints registered against Smith instruments.

When we standardised your instruments we did so with your assurance that our instruments would be subjected to careful selection and inspection but our records shew that in a number of cases this cannot be so.

If it is purely financial considerations which limit this special treatment of our instruments requirements then we consider the whole question of price should be again reviewed so that no possible effort will be spared to give us the careful quality considerations we have always insisted upon.

For instance over a ten day period from June 2nd instant to June 12th we returned to you :-

6 petrol gauges
3 oil gauges
1 thermometer
1 clock
